I feel it’s been far too long since I started doing wrestling game tomfoolery. I’m vaguely making a different project with someone from work, but it’s extremely “when we get to it”, and this idea of an unrelated game keeps creeping into my head.

The desire to make a wrestling game has bounced around my skull since I was 8 years old, but I’m thinking I might know enough now to make a primitive take on the games I used to love on the PS1. The Yukes Smackdown series is the game I’ve by far played the most over the years, and it’s brought me a lot of joy. I’d love an updated, new game in the same style of “simple but fun”. More importantly, I’m thinking about the fun I’d have and the learning experience. I have no doubt this might fall down the back of the sofa as so many projects and ideas do, but i’d love to see how far I’ve come as a maker of things with this challenge.

I made a few iterations on a Booking Simulator, but that mostly was tackling Saving, Modding, and UI. This got pretty far, but various things happened and I either couldn’t make the game using the assets, the code was dire spaghetti that needed destroying, or I lost the desire to make it after seeing someone else release something painfully similar to my take. :) I’m hoping this will have enough of that “learning experience” to make this worthwhile and I’ll get somewhere, but if I don’t… I’m making stuff so I must be alive! Hi world! :)

Thank you for reading this. :) Hopefully I’ll make something nice to show one day!
